Installation und Inbetriebnahme liefen problemlos. Die mitgelieferte USB-GPS-Maus ist nicht von Garmin (Abweichung vom Produktfoto!), funktioniert aber zuverlässig, genau und schnell. Die Bedienung der Software (Garmin Mobile PC) ist teilweise etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig und viele Funktionen findet man nicht unbedingt dort, wo man sie erwarten würde, sondern muss öfters lange in den Menüs suchen. Hier besteht unbedingt Verbesserungsbedarf bei der Bedienbarkeit der Software. Unter intuitiver, benutzerfreundlicher Bediennung versteht man etwas anderes. Der Funktionumfang insgesamt ist jedoch gut und mir ist sonst keine vergleichbare Navigationssoftware für Laptops bekannt.
Das Kartenbild ist typisch "amerikanisch", wie man es von Garmin nicht anders erwarten kann, d.h. mit Farben wird eher gespart (gelbe/graue Linien auf weißem Hintergrund), topographische Gegebenheiten, die bei anderen Navis teilweise angezeigtwerden (z.B. Wald) fehlen. Schade ist auch, dass die Klassifikation der Straßen wenig differenziert ist, d.h. dass kleinere Straßen und Nebenstraßen grundsätzlich nur als graue Linie dargestellt sind, aber nicht erkennbar ist, ob es sich um eine asphaltierte Straße oder nur eine schlaglochbehaftete Schotterpiste handelt oder ob die Straße evtl. sogar für den Verkehr gesperrt ist. Auch Einbahnstraßen werden nicht gekennzeichnet, obwohl diese Information vorhanden wäre und bei der Routenberechung auch berücksichtigt wird. Die Aktualität der Karten lässt zu wünschen übrig. Für ein Produkt, das in der Bezeichnung die Jahreszahl 2009 enthält (Karte Garmin City Navigator Europe NT 2009) lässt die Aktualität machmal sehr zu wünschen übrig. So fehlen in manchen Ländern (z.B. Portugal) sogar neuere Autobahnen, die schon seit mehr als einem Jahr eröffnet wurden. Die Routenberechnung ist schnell und zuverlässig, auch die Abbiege-Ansagen erfolgen rechtzeitig.
Insgesamt kein überragendes, aber durchaus noch brauchbares Produkt.
Das kartenmaterial ist wie gewonnt von Garmin sehr gut, die Installation ist auch recht einfach nur die mitgelieferte GPS - Maus ist nicht gerade die Beste.
